NATIONAL POP MATHS QUIZ - SHEFFIELD

The British Association held its Annual festival here in Sheffield in September 1999, and on September 15th, as part of the festival, we ran a pilot for a National Pop Maths Quiz. See the report and the photos here! The winners were CLAYDON SCHOOL, from Ipswich. Congratulations to them!!!

Although this competition is now over, please complete the form below if you wish to register interest in the next one!

The 2000 National PopMaths Web Quiz

This year we experimented by making the quiz entirely web-based. It took place on Saturday 16th September, 2000 between 11:00 and 12:00 British Summer Time (i.e. GMT + 1 hour). More details here.

Who can enter?

Teams of 6 upper sixth formers will gather to take part in a pub-style quiz.

Local Pop Maths Quizzes

Groups of schools can compete on an area basis. Winners of local competitions can come to Sheffield to take part in the finals.

If there are no local competitions

Schools can compete in a postal quiz in June. We will send out sets of questions to schools and colleges, and the best-scoring teams can come to Sheffield.

Great fun!

Our experience of running these quizzes in Sheffield is that they are fun! The numbers taking part in our annual Pop Maths Quiz has risen each year - this year there were over 1000 direct and indirect participants (see our web pages for further details.
